HOW TO HAVE HIGH ENERGY THROUGHOUT THE DAY

Foods can provide energy in three ways.

  • by providing more calories
  • with stimulants such as caffeine
  • by pushing the metabolism to optimal performance

Let us take a look at how energy levels can be sustained throughout the day.

  • Whole grains provide complex carbohydrates which break up slowly to stabilize energy levels.Sugars must be avoided as blood sugar rises and then plummets giving rise to mood swings.
  • Nuts such as almonds,hazelnuts, cashews contain protein and also supply magnesium which is essential in converting sugar into energy.
  • Selenium found in brazil nuts is an important mood booster.It is also found in seafood,whole grains and meats in small quantities.
  • Lean meats give protein and Vitamin B12 which fights depression.
  • Salmon and sources of omega 3 fatty acids are necessary for heart health and to fight depression among other benefits. 
  • Leafy greens provide fiber and folate.
  • Staying hydrated with plenty of drinking water is important for all functions of the body.
  • Breakfast is never to be skipped.Energy levels need to be replenished before the start of the day.
  • Coffee,tea are stimulants that lift your mood like chocolate and helps in staying mentally focused.
  • Eat smaller meals 4-5 times a day to  keep the body performing at optimal levels.
  • Avoid energy drinks as they are low in nutrition but high in calories because of the sugar content. 
  • Exercising regularly is a good mood lifter and speeds up metabolism for the whole day.
